(Think teapot [kettle] without a spout.) They can be swung, thrown, pressed or used in dozens of other ways. The exercises are a highly efficient way to lose weight, tone your body, increase your cardio-vascular fitness and maintain joint flexibility. The thing is that kettlebells are very expensive and very difficult to transport.
Dan Shepherd and Andy Thomas created the Kettle Gryp, a comfortable handle that turns a traditional set of dumbbells into kettlebells. Not do they give you much more economical exercise equipment, but equipment that is portable.
